What to do
My car is due a service, what now?
Car due a service and not sure which one? A one-minute rule based on mileage and your last service date, what each level costs, and how to book it at your address.
If your car is due a service, the level depends on the last one. Twelve months or 12,000 miles since a full service means another full service. Six months or 6,000 miles since that, and you are a high-mileage driver, book an interim. Twenty-four months or 24,000 miles, book a major. If only the oil is due, book an oil change.
| Interim | 6 months / 6,000 miles, from £145 + VAT |
|---|---|
| Full | 12 months / 12,000 miles, from £199 + VAT |
| Major | 24 months / 24,000 miles, from £230 + VAT |
| Oil only | From £120 + VAT |
What to do
- Find your last service date and mileage. In the service book, the digital record, or on the last invoice.
- Compare against the interval. 12 months / 12,000 miles for a full, 24 months / 24,000 for a major.
- Book, or ask us. Send the registration and current mileage and we will tell you what is due without upselling you.
Car due a service? The service light is not the whole story
A service indicator is a mileage or time counter, and on long-life schedules it can be optimistic for the way most people actually drive. Short journeys, city traffic and towing all degrade oil faster than the counter assumes. If your driving is mostly short trips, a fixed 12-month interval is a better guide than the light.
Equally, the light coming on does not tell you which service is due. That comes from the date and mileage of the last one.
If you have skipped one or two
Book a major. It changes the longer-life items, resets the maintenance clock and produces a written condition report, which is worth more than guessing. Expect advisories: a car that has gone two or three years without a service usually has at least one item near the end of its life. Nothing extra is ever carried out without your agreement. Questions
Find the date and mileage of the last service. Twelve months or 12,000 miles since a full service means another full service is due. Send us the reg and mileage and we will confirm it.
Nothing immediate, but oil degrades with time as well as mileage. Get it booked rather than waiting for the next round number on the odometer.
No. Any qualified operator can carry out the schedule and reset the indicator.
